FAQs

What is Amalgam?

Amalgam is a weekend camp for all past, present and future members of SSAGO and SAGGA to get together and reminisce about the past 55 years, while looking forward to the next 55!

Where will Amalgam be held?

The camp will take place at Paccar Scout Camp, Buckinghamshire

When will Amalgam be?

Amalgam will be held on the 9th - 11th September 2022

What activities will there be?

The full list of activities is ever evolving but we have a wide variety of onsite and offsite experiences, suitable for all ages and abilities. If you have any activity suggestions, let us know here!

I’d like to help out, can I?

We’d love you to help! If you’d like to get involved in the planning of the camp, head to our Volunteer page to see if there are any open vacancies that catch your eye; don’t worry if not, we’ll be adding more roles in the future! If you have something specific in mind that we might not have thought of, drop us an email to let us know.

Alternatively, if you just want to help out on the weekend then that’s also great! We’ll be looking for all sorts of people to help with a variety of jobs, just let us know on your booking that you’d like to volunteer and what sort of things you’d like to do and then we’ll be in contact. Alternatively, message us using the Contact Us page if there’s something specific you’d like to do and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

Can I bring my children?

Amalgam is open to everyone, young or old, so we're pleased to confirm you can bring participants under the age of 18. In order to comply with our safeguarding responsibilities, we ask that all families keep in mind the following guidance:

  • Families must stay overnight in our designated Family Camping, indoor Family rooms, or their own caravan
  • Under 18s must be supervised at all times by a parent or guardian
  • If an under 18 wishes to take part in an activity, a parent or guardian must also complete the activity with them

For more information on our safeguarding policies, please reach out to committee@amalgam.ssago.org

How do I get to the campsite?

One of the reasons we have chosen Paccar Scout Camp as our campsite is because of how accessible it is! It is close to road and rail links and we will be providing shuttle buses to and from the station. For more information please visit our Getting Here page.

Can I just come for the day?

Of course! Saturday only tickets are available in our booking process, at half the price of our full event tickets.

I’m no longer part of SSAGO/SAGGA, can I still come?

We want to welcome as many people to Amalgam as possible, and that includes alumni! Simply book on as a guest and we will be thrilled to have you join us.

Will I be able to park onsite?

Yep! Just let us know when you make your booking and we will make sure there’s a space for you. To make sure there is space for everyone, and to reduce the environmental impact, please car share where possible.

Where is the nearest train station?

Gerrards Cross is the nearest train station and we will be arranging shuttle buses to and from the site from here. For more information about how to get to site, check out the Getting Here page.
